Conditioning Class Syllabus

Course Overview:

This course is designed to help improve your natural athleticism through use of strength training, speed training, plyometric, and agility training. The goal is to increase strength, speed, agility and overall health. In a nutshell, we want to help you become ‘bigger, stronger, and faster’.

 

Course Objectives:

  • Students will gain a better understanding of performance improvement philosophies.

  • Students will be able to design a fitness program.

  • Students will be able to improve their current level of fitness.

  • Students will be able to understand basic vocabulary used in a fitness plan.

  • Students will understand safety procedures in a weight room

  • Students will gain an understanding and be able to demonstrate Olympic lifts

 

Dress Code:

Students will follow the Melba School District 136 dress code for this course in addition to the following:

  • No Jewelry. Bracelets, Necklaces

  • No Short Shorts, Spandex ‘yoga’ pants

  • Cutoff Tshirts, Tanks Ok (as long as no undergarments, body parts showing)

  • No Electronic devices in weight room. Including cell phones, iPods, MP3

  • Closed toed athletic shoes are required

 

Class Expectations:

Students will be given time to dress down/clean up each period.

Students will be expected to be in weight room, dressed and ready to go within 5 mins of class starting

Students are expected to participate every day, including ‘Game Days’, providing maximum effort in classes

Students with a documented medical ailment, can receive program adaptations based on needs

Students will wear appropriate attire to class

NO SWEARING or FOUL LANGUAGE

 

Grading:

20pts available daily

10pts for participation

1pt for appropriate dress

1pt for being on time (NOT TARDY)

8 pts for effort, attitude

 

Assignments:

  • Daily Workout

  • Weekly Workout Log (must be correctly filled out each week for points)

  • Vocabulary Checks/Weekly Writing Assessment

  • Pre and Post Cycle Testing

 

Discipline:

  • Warning

  • Student/Instructor Conference

  • Student/Instructor/Parent Conference

  • Referral to Administration

 

Locker Room:

         DO

  Keep it clean

  Lock your stuff up

     DON’T

   Bully/Haze

  Leave it dirty
